Guarda Val is a unique “Maiensäss” (mountain chalet) hotel. It is spread over eleven chalets and barns, some of which date back three centuries. Located 1600 metres above sea level in the hamlet of Sporz, directly above Lenzerheide, it combines the fascination of deep-rooted Grison traditions with luxury, indulgence and impeccable customer service. This is the home territory of top chef Thomas Walz (1 Michelin star and 16 Gault Millau points), who also received a distinguished mention in Karl Wild’s 2014 Switzerland Hotel Rating book. Hearty, imaginative or classic cuisine – this is where your mountain holiday tastes best!

Guarda Val harmonises softly and gently with the hamlet of Sporz. The facades of the chalets and barns have been preserved in their original condition. But behind the sun-kissed beams lie Alpine treasures which redefine the meaning of happiness in the mountains: 50 hideaways, each with an individual floor plan and stylish highlights from the Grison mountain world.

In 2008, the well-known gourmet restaurant Guarda Val (1 Michelin star and 16 Gault Millau points) was given a facelift, turning it into an exciting symbiosis of past and present. The century-old cowsheds now exude elegance, shining as brightly as top chef Thomas Walz.
